Last Saturday we worked at the annual Riverbend Ranch Carnival for Charity. This year was amazing... the weather was great, and the attendance was at least double what it was last year! The Schroeder family worked at the "Ladder Golf" booth, which seemed to attract quite a few people.
Eva got her face painted by one of three very talented artists. They really did some beautiful work! She is also holding a roll of tickets under her arm, and a bag of Jelly Bellies... both are prizes for our booth.
It is always fun to help at the carnival, but there was a lot of back bending involved in our booth this year. Thankfully, Dad did most of the hard work and let us sit under the tree and keep score.
I'm sure this is how most of the volunteers felt by the end of the day.
Back at home the Sunflowers are blooming. These sunflowers were planted by Eve and Lil' Cowboy Davis in April, and look how they've grown!
Thursday was one of the hottest days of the week, so it ended up being the perfect for a trip down the river with the Walkers. Here are the intrepid explorers setting out. Notice how dry everyone was at this point
Corey and the "Unofficial Birthday Girl" were riding in the boat that was later titled "THE ARK".
I don't know which is funnier; the fact that Dad chose the "LUSITANIA" for their ship's name, or the fact that Eva and Casey made the exact same face in two different photos.
Pastor Walter and Casey manned the "RED OCTOBER." Beware of their "Crazy Ivans"... this will be the result....
We surrender... just kidding. The temperature was around 97 degrees so a good splash every now and then was actually quite refreshing.
Mom and Rach are in the "SPEEDWELL" and Kevin and Corey are in the "TITANIC". This was toward the end of the trip, and we were very wet at this point.
Friday was Lindsey's birthday. We started off the day by visiting a local farm where we could pick our own blueberries! They were not sprayed with pesticides, and were very delicious (and much cheaper than the store prices).
Eva is a fast berry picker, but.....
... Rach takes the prize for fastest berry picking. I don't know how she did it so quickly, seeing as she ate more than she picked!
Well what do you know, the Walkers saw us two days in a row! Berry picking goes much faster when you have friends to talk to... and play with....
... Rachel and Casey were having "blueberry wars" most of the time we were there. Don't worry, they were only throwing the bad ones.
We came home and Lindsey opened her presents... all were books, or gardening gifts... surprise, surprise!
Eva decided to enjoy the day by swimming, and Rachel decided to document the event in photos.
Quite the scholarly pose
Talking with family and friends... everyone sang beautifully... Thank you!
Enjoying some Turtle Ice cream Pie.
Well that was a week in June with the Schroeders. 2009 is already half over... scary, isn't it... have you spent your time wisely?
